It’s starting to feel a lot like a simulation… I’m sitting with an AI to aid my productivity, a live stream from the American Congress discussing captured aliens and anomalous sightings, and a news notification that Blackrock thinks that 85% of portfolios should be Bitcoin… Did I mention that a tech billionaire wants to block out the sun and another wants to scan our eye balls? Hello Weekend 🌞
Worldcoin: The Cryptocurrency That Wants To Scan Your Eyeballs
AI and blockchain are converging? Sam Altman, leader of OpenAI, has finally launched his sovereign identity play to prove that we’re human. With pods being set up in cities to scan eyeballs, and biometric data then stored on chain. There’s been a lot of news and chatter on the benefits of Worldcoin, with Vitalik Buterin (Ethereum) expressing some interesting views.
Google Play Changes Policy on Tokenized Digital Assets, Allowing NFTs in Apps and Games
Google, keenly aware of the rising tide, has changed their terms for tokenised assets with a hefty nod from Reddit and their amazing tokenised avatar expansion (16m+). As interesting, is the source post from Google that mentions some of the rules, for example - “if an app or game sells or enables users to earn tokenized digital assets, developers must declare this clearly” - definitely worth a read.
Twitter is being rebranded as X
Whatever you think of Elon and his sometimes cryptic business moves, he’s definitely fearless and driven by a purpose only he seems to know. Having said that his almost self deprecating steps to prevent the scraping of Twitter for training other AI platforms is a bold one. In the days since the X announcement there’s been flip-flopping, name appropriating (stealing?), IP questions, and the obvious outcry from millions of users.
I only have one question - “what do we call tweets from now on?” please direct your answers to our X profile… 😁
Loot boxes to be restricted by UK games industry trade association
The loot box, an old mechanic draped in digital accessibility with a quantifiable dopamine hit for the target opener of the box… Once upon a time kids would buy a pack of football cards hoping that within the random selection they’d get that one card they were missing… With this mechanic digitised and measurable, the potential for harm is great; Seeing the UK government stepping in is interesting and potentially good news for kids and parents… potentially.
Web3 vs Web 3.0: Differences You Should Know Between Them
Hmm… This is a real article in a real publication. Is this the final nail in the coffin for naming waves of technology? Are we still at automobile 1.0? Thanks to generative AI we will for sure see more articles like this. Happy Friday!
